About the AI scribe used in your consult
Version 1 ยท operated by Matilda Health
Your doctor uses a tool called Matilda to help write the clinical note from your consult. This sheet explains, in plain language, what it does and what it doesn't do.
What it does
During your consult, Matilda listens to the conversation through your doctor's microphone and turns the speech into text in real time. After the consult, it drafts a clinical note from that text, which your doctor reviews, edits, and saves to your medical record using their usual practice software.
What it doesn't do
- It does not store the audio of your consult.
- It does not diagnose you or make any clinical decisions.
- It does not replace your doctor's judgement โ they review every note.
- Your transcript and note are not used to train any AI model.
Where the data goes
The audio is processed by Cloudflare's AI service (Whisper for transcription, Llama for note drafting). The resulting transcript and note are encrypted and stored only on infrastructure that Matilda controls. They are visible only to your doctor.
Cloudflare's infrastructure is global, so your data may be processed in data centres outside Australia. We do not share your information with anyone other than the providers needed to run the service (Cloudflare, and our email provider Resend, which only ever sees your doctor's email address).
Your choices
- You can ask your doctor to turn it off at any time, before or during the consult.
- It will not affect the care you receive.
- You can ask your doctor to delete the transcript and note for your consult. They can do this from inside Matilda.
Contact
Questions about Matilda specifically (not your medical care) can be sent to [email protected].
Matilda is administrative software for transcription and note drafting. It is not a medical device. Clinicians review and edit every note before it is used in your care.
